Chamber offers alternative solution to deal with meth problem

On Thursday, the Kentucky Chamber expressed concerns regarding legislation that would require a doctor’s prescription for consumers to purchase medications containing pseudoephedrine, the key ingredient in the drug methamphetamine. The Chamber recognizes the severity of the meth problem in Kentucky and the damage it does to families and communities and we encourage legislators to do more to address this problem.  However, we have significant reservations about the current proposals before the General Assembly and encourage legislators to explore alternatives and perform a thorough cost analysis before adopting the current proposal. To read the letter the Chamber provided to the legislature detailing a full breakdown of recommended alternatives to the proposed legislation, click here. For a complete view of how this legislation would affect the various sectors involved from pharmacists to law enforcement, click here to read the cn2 report.
