Worksite wellness tax credit introduced

A bill to incentivize companies to implement a comprehensive worksite wellness program was introduced last week. HB 549 (Tilley) gives companies a nonrefundable tax credit equal to 50% of the cost of offering a wellness program to employees, not to exceed $100 multiplied by the number of employees. The credit is capped annually at $3 million. The Kentucky Dept. of Public Health recently released a Health Impact Assessment report calling for such a tax credit, saying it could improve the bottom lines of Kentucky businesses and have a lasting impact on the health of Kentucky families.
