On Thursday, Kentucky Chamber President and CEO Dave Adkisson and Vice President of Public Affairs Ashli Watts presented State Representative Leslie Combs (D-Pikeville) with the Chamber MVP Award. Rep. Combs was among a select group of legislators recognized for conspicuous actions supporting Kentucky’s business community during the 2016 Kentucky General Assembly.
Combs received a 100% voting record with the Kentucky Chamber during the 2016 session and sponsored the final version of the Chamber’s top priority public-private partnership (P3) legislation.
The MVP bat presentation took place at the Kentucky Chamber’s Public-Private Partnership (P3) Conference in Lexington, where she was recognized for her work on the issue.
“With so many important business issues in play during a legislative session, we feel it is important to highlight the efforts of those legislators who went out of their way to help ensure a positive business climate,” said Kentucky Chamber President and CEO Dave Adkisson. “During the 2016 session, Representative Combs played a key role by sponsoring the business community’s top priority, public-private partnership legislation. Rep. Combs has been the champion of this legislation for many years and worked across the aisle to ensure the bill’s passage in 2016.”
Also recognized as a Chamber MVP at the P3 Conference Thursday was state Sen. Max Wise (R-Campbellsville), who was the sponsor of the Senate version of the P3 bill in 2016 and was presented with his award earlier this month in his district.
In addition to monitoring the progress of bills that directly relate to the strength of the Commonwealth’s business community, the Chamber tracks how each legislator votes on these bills. The Chamber’s MVP award recipients displayed more than just a business-friendly voting record, but also went out of their way, and at times across party lines, to support or oppose an issue critical to the business climate in Kentucky.
