Gov. Bevin Appoints Terry R. Gill, Jr. to lead Kentucky’s Cabinet for Economic Development

Terry R. Gill, Jr. appointed by Gov. Matt Bevin to serve as Secretary of Economic Development

On Wednesday, Governor Bevin announced the appointment of Terry R. Gill, Jr. to serve as the Secretary of the Cabinet for Economic Development.  Gill will serve as an ex-officio member of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in his role as secretary.

Gill is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and holds a degree in marketing with a minor in economics.  He recently served as President of OneTouchPoint, a marketing organization and was formerly Vice President of EnterpriseCorp affiliated with Greater Louisville Inc.

“Terry brings integrity, business competence and a passion for economic development that will foster a stronger environment for job creation in every region of Kentucky,” Gov. Matt Bevin said in a written statement.

Gill will take office on January 1, 2017.

Members of the business community welcomed the appointment including former chairs of the Kentucky Chamber Board of Directors, Luther Deaton and Jean Hale.

“I can think of no better person to run the Cabinet for Economic Development.  Terry’s business background and passion for growing Kentucky’s economy and creating jobs will be a tremendous boost for the Commonwealth,” President and CEO of Central Bank Luther Deaton said.

“Community Trust Bank is a strong and active supporter of economic development and supports businesses at the local level throughout the state. We could not be more pleased with this selection,” Hale said. “Having Terry lead the Cabinet for Economic Development will make a great organization even better.”
