Rep. Jim Gooch Presented with Chamber MVP Award

Gooch MVP PresentationOn Thursday, Kentucky Chamber Director of Public Affairs Kate Shanks presented Representative Jim Gooch of Madisonville with the Chamber MVP Award. Rep. Gooch was among a select group of legislators who “went to bat” for Kentucky business during the 2018 Kentucky General Assembly.

“During this high-profile legislative session and his 23 years in office, Rep. Gooch has been a strong friend to the Chamber and to the business community,” said Kentucky Chamber President and CEO Dave Adkisson. “This session, Rep. Gooch sponsored House Bill 227, Chamber-priority legislation to modernize private rooftop solar laws and showed leadership for the business community on several issues.”

In addition to monitoring the progress of bills that create a better business climate and advance the Commonwealth, the Chamber tracks how each legislator votes on these bills. The Chamber’s MVP award recipients displayed more than just a business-friendly voting record, but also went out of their way, and at times across party lines, to support or oppose an issue critical to the business climate in Kentucky.
