Louisville lawmaker Rep. Pamela Stevenson has filed to run for Kentucky’s Attorney General, making her the first black woman to contest for the office. Stevenson, a Democrat, was recently re-elected to represent Kentucky’s 43rd House District for a second term.

Stevenson, a U.S. Air Force veteran, joins former U.S. Attorney Russell Coleman, a Republican, as just the second candidate to enter the Attorney General race in 2023. Current Attorney General Daniel Cameron opted against seeking a second term and instead is running for governor in a crowded GOP primary.
