Legislative leaders elected in House and Senate

Tuesday was primarily an “administrative” day at the capitol with both chambers swearing in new members and organizing committee structures. But it was also an historic day for leadership elections. Sen. Robert Stivers was officially elected as Senate President and Sen. Damon Thayer was elected Majority Floor Leader. Also of note were House elections where Rep. Sannie Overly became the first woman elected to House leadership as the Majority Caucus Chairman and Rep. Jeff Hoover was re-elected as House Minority Leader. Rep. Hoover has become the longest-serving Republican Minority Leader in the House.
