Telecommunications Modernization bill heads to full Senate

The Telecommunications Modernization bill, SB 99, passed out of the senate economic development, tourism and labor committee on Thursday. Hood Harris, President of AT&T Kentucky told the committee that the company needs the bill so that it can invest more in high speed modern broadband and spend less on outdated landlines. The Kentucky Chamber is supportive of this increased investment as it will bring much needed changes to the Commonwealth’s outdated telecommunications system. The bill passed committee with only one “no” vote and passed the full Senate 34-4.
