As Kentuckians prepare for school to start in the fall, Governor Beshear announced Thursday that K-12 schools should require masking for all teachers, staff, students, and students, as COVID-19 and Delta variant cases are rising. This recommendation applies regardless of vaccination status.
During the press conference, Governor Beshear said and Public Health Commissioner Dr. Stack said vaccines and masking when necessary are what is needed to stop the Delta variant.
Dr. Stack showed statistics of cases across the Commonwealth, saying that 95% of all new cases are unvaccinated individuals. Currently, Kentucky has approximately 2.3 million vaccinated individuals.
“I think if we listen to trusted experts, tune out other sources of misinformation, I think we will realize there’s no debate here, there’s no controversy, and we can get over this a lot faster,” said Dr. Stack.
