Local chambers recognized as part of Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives 2022 Excellence Awards

Local chambers from across the state were recognized at the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives (KCCE) 2022 Annual Dinner on September 28 as part of its Annual Conference. KCCE Annual Excellence Awards pay tribute to local chambers of commerce in areas of operational excellence that include membership growth and retention, advocacy, and more.

The KCCE Annual Conference hosted conversations on diverse topics facing Kentucky and the nation and featured speakers including Chef Ouita Michel of Holly Hill and Dr. Eli Capilouto of the University of Kentucky. 

As part of the 2022 Annual Dinner, the KCCE Board of Directors named Josh Suiter of the Chamber of St. Matthews as the 2023 president, which was previously held by Jordan Gibson of the Southeast Kentucky Chamber.

The Excellence Awards ceremony culminates with the presentation of the KCCE Chamber Professional of the Year, which was awarded to the Cynthiana-Harrison County Chamber Executive Director Tomi Clifford. This honor is awarded to an individual that shows outstanding dedication and achievement in the field of chamber leadership and service to the community.

“What a wonderful night of celebrating our local chambers,” said KCCE Executive Director Amy Cloud, “It’s so nice to recognize the achievements of these organizations— big and small. I was thrilled to see Tomi win the Professional of the Year. She is a dedicated, compassionate leader and very deserving of the honor.”

“I’m honored to receive this year’s award for Chamber Professional of the Year,” said Clifford. “I am thankful for a supportive chamber board, my family, and KCCE for opportunities I have had through their programs over the past seven years.”

Other awards for individual achievement were also presented. These included Diana Wilson of Commerce Lexington as Staff Member of the Year, Greater Louisville Inc. 2022 Chair Purna Veer of V-Soft Consulting Group Inc. as Volunteer of the Year, and Sara Ashbacher of the Chamber of St. Matthews as Young Professional of the Year.

Chamber Excellence Awards were given in five categories: annual dues income less than $75,000 (Group I); annual dues between $75,001 and $150,000 (Group II); annual dues income between $150,001 and $250,000 (Group III); annual dues between $250,001 and $650,000 (Group IV); and annual dues income more than $650,001 (Group V).

KCCE provides professional development, resources, assistance, grassroots advocacy, and other opportunities for local chambers of commerce, their staff, and volunteers across the Commonwealth.
