Former State Senator Dennis Parrett, who represented Hardin County and Kentucky’s 10th Senate District from 2011 to 2023 and served as Senate Minority Whip, has passed away.
While serving in the Kentucky Senate, Parrett earned a reputation for working across party lines on issues including support for veterans and military families, financial literacy education, agriculture, workforce development, and economic opportunity. The Kentucky Chamber recognized Parrett with its MVP Award in 2016 for his support of policies important to Kentucky’s business community.
Following news of his passing, the Kentucky Senate Democratic Caucus said, “He was a steady voice for the people of Hardin County, a trusted colleague in the Senate, and a leader who understood that public service is measured by the lives improved and the communities strengthened.”
The Kentucky Senate Republican Caucus said, “Sen. Parrett was a dedicated public servant, a respected colleague and a man who never allowed differences to be bigger than relationships. He served with humility, treated others with respect and remained deeply committed to the people he represented.”
