At the 22nd Annual Best Places to Work in Kentucky awards ceremony, presented by Saint Joseph Health, over 1000 attendees celebrated the 100 recognized Kentucky companies for their dedication to improving workplace environments.

The 2026 winners were announced in March, with rankings revealed at the awards ceremony. Companies were ranked based on a comprehensive survey of Kentucky employees, grouped into small (15–149), medium (150–499), and large (500+) employee categories.

Amgen Inc. (large category): At Amgen, employees play a vital role in the mission to serve every patient, every time. The Louisville Distribution Center ensures a rapid, reliable, and safe supply of life-saving medicines to healthcare facilities. A culture of inclusion, respect, and accountability fosters strong collaboration, where diversity is celebrated and community involvement is encouraged. Prioritizing safety, quality, and compliance, the Louisville team also actively supports local organizations. Ranked first in the large category last year, Amgen has once again been named a Best Place to Work in Kentucky—six years in a row.

L&N Federal Credit Union (medium category): L&N Federal Credit Union is a multi-group chartered credit union founded in 1954 in Louisville, Kentucky, to serve L&N Railroad workers and their families. Over the decades, L&N expanded within its multi-group charter to serve eligible individuals, family members of existing L&N members, businesses, and associations throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana. With more than 120,000 members and over $2.4 billion in assets, L&N offers personal and business financial services and, as a financial cooperative, returns profits to members through better rates, lower fees, convenient services, and resource programs. L&N is also an 11-time winner of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky program.

Wehr Constructors, Inc. (small category): Founded in 1945, Wehr Constructors, Inc. is a family-owned construction management and general contracting firm serving the Southeastern U.S. Wehr brings deep expertise to projects across healthcare, education, industrial, commercial, historical, and government sectors. Rooted in faith, integrity, and stewardship, the firm builds high-quality facilities and lasting relationships with clients, partners, and communities—delivering each project with excellence and care for future generations. Wehr Constructors, Inc. is an eight‐time winner of this program.

The Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM Kentucky) state council and the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce are proud to host the Best Places initiative, as both organizations support the value of workplace excellence as a key component in moving Kentucky forward.

“The Kentucky Chamber is proud to offer the Best Places to Work in Kentucky program, which provides a perfect venue to recognize employers that are doing their part to make the Commonwealth the best state in the nation to live, work, and do business,” said Kentucky Chamber President and CEO Ashli Watts.
