Kentucky Chamber Honors Senate President Robert Stivers with 2026 MVP Award

Senate President Robert Stivers was recognized with the Kentucky Chamber MVP Award for his leadership during the 2026 Kentucky General Assembly in September in Corbin. Kentucky Chamber Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Kate Shanks and Southern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bruce Carpenter presented the award during a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the expansion and renaming of the Corbin Center as the Robert Stivers Conference and Convention Center.

President Stivers was among a select group of legislators who went above and beyond to advance policies that strengthen Kentucky’s economy, support employers, and improve the Commonwealth’s competitiveness.

Recipients of the Kentucky Chamber MVP Award demonstrate exceptional leadership for Kentucky’s business community by sponsoring or carrying Chamber priority legislation to final passage, leading on critical policy issues, or taking difficult votes in support of a stronger business climate.

During the 2026 legislative session, President Stivers played a critical role in advancing pro-business legislation through the Senate while preventing harmful bills that could limit Kentucky’s competitiveness. He was instrumental in the passage of legislation supporting alternative aviation fuel and championed investment in the Endowed Research Fund to strengthen Kentucky’s research capacity and advance economic development.

“President Stivers has long understood the connection between sound public policy and Kentucky’s ability to compete, attract investment, and create opportunity,” said Kentucky Chamber Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Kate Shanks. “His leadership in the Senate has helped advance important priorities for employers while keeping a strong focus on Kentucky’s long-term economic growth. We appreciate his continued partnership and commitment to moving the Commonwealth forward.”

The 2026 General Assembly made progress on many top priorities of the Kentucky business community, and the pro-growth policies that passed saved Kentucky businesses an estimated $1.564 billion, or $911 per private-sector employee in the Commonwealth.

While monitoring legislation that impacts Kentucky’s business climate, the Kentucky Chamber tracks lawmakers’ support for policies that help employers grow, create jobs, and invest in their communities. MVP Award recipients distinguish themselves not only through their voting records but through their leadership in advancing solutions that strengthen Kentucky’s economy.
