Earlier today, President Obama addressed the Board of Directors of the United States Chamber of Commerce. As you may know, Kentucky Chamber President Dave Adkisson is a member of the U.S. Chamber Board. Dave was in Washington this afternoon to hear the President’s remarks and has been invited to give his reaction to the speech on the PBS News Hour program. It will be taped live today at 6:00 p.m. Eastern, but airs in most Kentucky markets on KET at 7:00 p.m. Eastern/6:00 p.m. Central.
The President’s visit to the U.S. Chamber signals a departure from some of the rhetoric between the Obama Administration and the business lobby during this past election cycle. Despite differences, the President expressed a willingness to work together. While the President didn’t directly address some of the high-profile differences such as health care and energy, he did offer support for revenue neutral tax reform that would lower the corporate income tax, promoted free trade deals and promised to help eliminate outdated and unnecessary regulations. The address can be viewed on C-SPAN by clicking here.
