First, Washington forces you to buy health insurance!

Now Kentucky is going to raise the cost of health care?

Despite the high costs of Washington health care, the Kentucky Senate is debating a bill that will RAISE HEALTH CARE COSTS FURTHER!

The Senate is considering HB 202, which would mandate insurance companies reimburse chiropractic services at a rate much higher than the amount currently negotiated by your insurance provider. This higher rate will be passed along to you, as a business and consumer, in the form of higher premiums and higher co-pays. This defeats the purpose of why you contract with a managed care organization in the first place – to control the cost of your health care coverage.

Opposition to the bill is not about penalizing chiropractors, nor does it question the value of the services they provide. But passage of the bill will raise health insurance costs. Further, it opens the door to a very dangerous precedent, one where every type of provider can go to the legislature to ask for the same guarantee. If HB 202 passes, Kentucky would be the only state in the country to enact mandated reimbursement rates in this manner.
