Gov. Andy Beshear lifts Kentucky’s mask mandate and capacity limits, provides update on vaccinations

On Friday, Governor Andy Beshear signed an executive order to lift COVID-19 restrictions including the mask mandate and capacity restrictions, with the exception of some high-risk environments.

“After more than a year of being at war with this virus we have hard-won knowledge of how to lessen the spread, and now to even defeat the virus with safe and effective vaccines,” said Gov. Beshear.

During the press conference, Gov. Beshear reported that over 2.1 million Kentuckians, 82% of all Kentuckians age 65 and over and 58% of Kentuckians 18 years or older, have received at least the first dose of COVID-19 vaccinations.

He also announced that over 370,000 vaccinated Kentuckians have registered for a Shot at a Million just one week after the program was announced. Read more about the program that will give three Kentuckians $1 million and 15 full-ride scholarships to a public college, university, or technical school in Kentucky.
