On Thursday, OJ Oleka announced he will run as for treasurer as a Republican. Oleka is the former president of the Association of Independent Kentucky Colleges and Universities, where he also served as an ex-officio member of the Kentucky Chamber Board of Directors. He previously served as the Deputy Treasurer of the Commonwealth of Kentucky under current Treasurer Allison Ball.
Oleka launched his campaign with a video on social media.
Andrew Cooperrider, who was defeated in the May primary for a state Senate seat, also filed his paperwork for the office. Cooperrider previously announced his intent to run in July.
There are no Democrats currently filed for the seat.
