UPDATED 6/3/25: The Kentucky House and Senate have announced the formation of five joint legislative task forces that will meet throughout the 2025 interim to study major policy challenges and develop recommendations for the next session. Co-chaired by members of both chambers, these task forces will focus on housing, artificial intelligence, disaster resilience, health outcomes, and aviation innovation.
Kentucky Housing Task Force
Co-Chairs: Sen. Robby Mills and Rep. Susan Witten
Senate Members: Sens. Jared Carpenter, Jimmy Higdon, Brandon Smith, Gerald Neal
House Members: Reps. Mike Clines, Kim Holloway, Shawn McPherson, Joshua Watkins
This task force is focused on finding practical solutions to increase the availability of safe, affordable, and quality housing. This group will examine population and workforce trends, housing costs, zoning and infrastructure barriers, and best practices from other states.
Artificial Intelligence Task Force
Co-Chairs: Sen. Amanda Mays Bledsoe and Rep. Josh Bray
Senate Members: Sens. Gex Williams, Mike Nemes, Steve Rawlings, Reggie Thomas
House Members: Reps. Tina Bojanowski, Derek Lewis, Suzanne Miles, JT Payne
This task force explores the responsible development and use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance innovation and economic competitiveness. It also examines opportunities for AI adoption in the public and private sectors, assesses data infrastructure needs, and explores best practices.
The housing and AI task forces were initially formed in 2024, and recommendations were released from their meetings.
Make America Healthy Again Kentucky Task Force
Co-Chairs: Sen. Shelley Funke Frommeyer and Rep. Matt Lockett
Senate Members: Sens. Donald Douglas, Craig Richardson, Phillip Wheeler, Cassie Chambers Armstrong
House Members: Reps. Emily Callaway, Robert Duvall, Adam Moore, Marianne Proctor
This task force will explore how to improve the health of Kentuckians through better prevention, access to care, and chronic disease management. It will review data, study national models, and recommend strategies to support healthier communities.
Disaster Prevention and Resiliency Task Force
Co-Chairs: Sen. Robin Webb and Rep. Chris Freeland
Senate Members: Sens. Scott Madon, Aaron Reed, Jason Howell, Keturah Herron
House Members: Reps. John Blanton, Mark Hart, Ashley Tackett Laferty, Mitch Whitaker
Task force members will assess Kentucky’s disaster response systems and explore ways to improve preparedness, recovery, and community resiliency following floods, tornadoes, and other natural disasters.
Air Mobility and Aviation Economic Development Task Force
Co-Chairs: Sen. Brandon Storm and Rep. Stephanie Dietz
Senate Members: Sens. Greg Elkins, Steve Meredith, Matt Nunn, David Yates
House Members: Reps. John Hodgson, Michael Meredith, Rachel Roarx, Aaron Thompson
With an eye toward the future of transportation, this group will look for ways to grow and improve Kentucky’s aviation and aerospace sectors while reviewing funding and infrastructure needs and opportunities to attract investment and jobs.
Each task force will meet throughout the interim to gather input from stakeholders, review policy options, and prepare legislation for the 2026 session.
