Rocky Adkins announced Tuesday he will run for governor, becoming the second candidate to enter Kentucky’s 2027 gubernatorial race following Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman’s announcement earlier this year.
Adkins served as senior advisor to Governor Andy Beshear from 2019 until resigning earlier this month. Before joining the administration, he represented northeastern Kentucky’s 99th House District in the Kentucky House of Representatives for 33 years, including serving as House Majority Leader for 13 years and House Minority Floor Leader for three years. He also ran for the Democratic nomination for Governor in 2019.
Gov. Beshear is term-limited and cannot seek re-election in 2027.
